Welcome traveler...Del makes his home on the central coast of California in the " Valley of the bears ", But one could say Del's home "is the west " having lived in Arizona, California, Oregon, Hawaii, and Mexico. As a boy, Del  was raised in a enviroment  which promoted creatvity and independent thought. " My mother was a art teacher and art and music  was incuraged in my home enviroment. " At  the age of  6 after  watching an all-boys  marching drum band in San Miguel De Allenda, Mexico, Del took an interest in playing drums. " Soon after I  signed up for drum lessons .....12 yrs. later I became a professional drummer." For the next  20 yrs. this is  what  I did. " Del once said, "I didnt realize how much time I would spend on the road criss-crossing the states."                            On the road left me time in the day  to persue other artistic endeavors...which led to my  art  work ..Del also enjoyed hiking and backpacking  ." We would search out the local trails and wilderness areas in what ever area we were in or traveling through ".  Del once said, "while traveling down the trails and Being emersed in the grand landscapes of the west, I was inspired to capture these beautiful natural places  with my art  work ."....                                                                                Del's art is an attempt to share this  untouched natural world,To capture the experiance one has alone in the wilderness, To maybe spar k  someone to go on an adventure into the natural world to discover ones self & ones place in it. "                                                                                                     Traveling on foot, like the pioneers, trappers & homesteaders of the not so distant past, with a pack filled with necessities, we can feel the geology beneath our feet, witness the intricate beauty of a cactus flower or lost redwood grove, wonder over the life of some ancient cliff  dweller. Hear the scream of a red-tailed hawk against the silent sky.                                                                                   Only on foot, close to the land, away from the mechanized world, can we truly appreciate our natural world given us. Like the pioneers of the west,in the1800's, we enter an untouched landscape of luminecient light, full of hope and wonder for the future. Del's art reflects this spirit of the west & the way things are far off the road......
